The Hi-line brown Laying hens, similar to Isa brown laying hens are only about 18months old. They are fully vaccinated and WE SELL OUR HENS TO THE PUBLIC ALL YEAR so you need not worry about calling to see if we still have them available. However if you would like 50 or more please call so we can organise for staffing.
Because we sell the hens at such a low price, the minimum sale is $20 for up to 4 hens ($5 each). From time to time we do offer specials for the public as a bonus!
Our hens are provided the best quality feed available which has a mixture of corn, soy etc.. and of course NEVER any antibiotics or hormones. They also lay "Golden Brown Eggs." The hens are just starting to go through their first malt (like dogs, hens also go through malts). However they are still laying quite well and at this low price you should get your investment back in no time!
Unlike hens at point of lay (pullets), our hens lay bigger eggs straight away! Point of lay hens start laying at about 17-19 weeks old and lay very small eggs to start off with. They gradually get bigger over time.
We also have the "Ultimate Organic Fertilizer" available.... Chicken Manure, high in nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium and other elements, can be purchased either pure or as a compost mix (compost mix - blend of hard wood shavings and manure). It can be purchased by the bag (pure $5.00, compost mix $6.00), by the trailer (pure 6x4 "HEAPED" up for only $30, compost mix $40 or bulk (5 cubic metres or more $12 cubic metre)
We are open 9-3pm Monday-Saturday, but closed public holidays. If you are dropping by to pick up Hens or Fertilizer (bulk), please, NO LATER than 2.30pm as we close this side of the farm at 2.30pm sharp
